Indeed, the Jambos welcome Bundesliga outfit Heidenheim to Tynecastle tonight on matchday three of the UEFA Conference League.

With two wins from two, Critchley’s men, much like the Hoops, are in a prosperous European position.

Tonight’s opponents are nowhere near the level of RB Leipzig, but the Hearts boss will take heart from the Celts’ recent victory and look to make it a double for Scottish teams in Europe over German outfits this week.

“I watched that Game last night [Celtic vs RB Leipzig], and I thought Celtic were very good,” he said (Football Scotland).

“A similar result would be nice. Celtic were fully deserving of their victory, so hopefully we can be the next Scottish team to win against German opposition.”

To hear Critchley was impressed by Celtic’s midweek performance is no surprise.

The Scottish Premiership champions were terrific on Tuesday, putting in one of their best European performances in over a decade.

Leipzig were blown away by Brendan Rodgers’ side, who, barring a brief spell early on in the Game, dominated proceedings.

Nicolas Kuhn stole the show against his old academy team, scoring twice in the first half to steer the Hoops ahead after the visitors took an early lead.

Reo Hatate made sure of the points in the second half as the Celts put on a show on the biggest stage of them all.

The Jambos will look for a similar level of performance this evening.
