Anthony Edwards was compared to Michael Jordan on multiple occasions throughout the first two round of the NBA playoffs.

In the conference finals against the Dallas Mavericks, though – Edwards has been arguably the most disappointing player on his team.

On Friday night, following the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Game 2 defeat at the hands of the Mavs, Edwards broke down why he has been struggling so much.

“They’re just showing me crowds man, sitting in the gaps,” he admitted.

“But I’m turning down a lot of shots, like my midranges and stuff, I’m turning a lot of those down. But we getting open looks, so I ain’t tripping… They’re open, so I’m making the right play. But sometimes the right play may be to just shoot it… I mean.

“We were down 3-2. We were up 2-0, and they came and won two at the crib, and then won one at their crib. We’ve been here before. I don’t think anyone in the locker room is panicking. I hope not. Just come out and play our brand of basketball. We let them make a run, we’re supposed to go up big but, they made a run and cut it right before the half. We made some mistakes but we’ll be alright.”

Prior to this series against Dallas Edwards was averaging 27.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per outing. Against the Mavericks? Those stats are now down to 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 7.5 assists.

Will Edwards be able to get his act together in Game 3 and help the Wolves stave off a sweet at the hands of Luka Doncic and Co.? Time will tell.

Charles Barkley’s Theory On Anthony Edwards’ Poor Play

Edwards’ poor play has caught the attention of NBA legend Charles Barkley. So much so, in fact, that the Hall of Famer has posited a theory on why Edwards is playing so terribly.

“Ant is tired. He’s never been here before, he’s tired,” Barkley said.

Whatever the cause – Edwards needs to find a way to work through it. The Timberwolves desperately need him to step up and be the face of the league that he was heralded as at one point in these playoffs.

Will Edwards be able to get the job done? Time will tell.
