Andrea Pirlo Sets his Sights on Former Celtic Man
Andrea Pirlo, the current manager of Sampdoria, is reportedly keen on bringing a former Celtic player to strengthen his squad in the Italian Serie A.
Liam Henderson, who began his professional career at Celtic before moving to Italy after spells at Rosenburg and Hibs, is said to be on Pirlo’s radar. [Football Scotland]
Henderson, 28, made his move to Italy back in 2018, initially joining Bari in Serie B. His journey in Italy took a turn when Bari faced bankruptcy, prompting his transfer to Hellas Verona. Following stints with Empoli on loan and then permanently, with a season at Lecce in between, Henderson spent the last season on loan at Palermo. He is now back with Empoli, but his future could see another change with interest from Sampdoria.
Pirlo, a legendary figure in Football, has received assurances about his job security and is now looking to bolster his team’s lineup by adding Henderson, who has considerable experience in Italian Football. This move could provide Henderson with a significant step up, playing under the guidance of one of the Game’s most respected figures.
