Fans of Netflix’s popular South Korean series, Squid Game are gearing up to indulge in an upcoming multiplayer video game about the series. Here’s what we know about Squid Game: Unleashed, the release date and other details about the upcoming multiplayer video game based on the series.
If you keep doing reruns of the Squid Game on Netflix, there’s some good news. Not only is the second season of the thriller show coming in late 2024 but there’s also a new video Game being launched based on the show’s concept. It’s called Squid Game: Unleashed and for some reason, it is far less deadly than the show it’s based on.
Good or bad? That’s for you to decide.
Unveiled to the world at Gamescom 2024, Squid Game: Unleashed is one of the many new additions to Netflix’s ever-expanding collection of mobile-centric video games that is free to play for subscribers. Similar to critically acclaimed titles like Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition and Money Heist, the Squid Game video game will be available for subscribers on iOS and Android devices accessible only via the Netflix app.
That’s not all! Netflix’s gaming collection will also be getting Monument Valley 3, the successor to the popular platformer that was released almost a decade ago. While this one has been confirmed to hit the store on December 10, the streaming giant is still keeping mum on when we could see the video game based on Squid Game.
But we have a trailer to look at. Hence, join us as we explore everything about Squid Game: Unleashed.
‘Netflix Squid Game: Unleashed’ video game unveiled: Gameplay, platforms and more
The short trailer video released by Netflix shows the Gameplay experience you can expect from the video Game. Developed by Boss Fight, which is part of the Netflix Game Studio, Squid Game: Unleashed is essentially a battle royale multiplayer Game that is set in the Squid Game universe.

Similar to Call of Duty: Mobile and Fortnite, Squid Game: Unleashed will host up to 32 players in a single match. Players will have to overcome the obstacles and challenges inspired by the web show while teaming up with friends. As a team, you will need to fight enemies and race through deadly obstacles to win. There will be daily rewards to win and new challenges to unlock from the several themed events.
The gameplay seems quite similar to various platformers we have seen over the years. Players need to dodge deadly obstacles while using certain objects as weapons to eliminate their enemies and win the round.
However, the treatment could come as a surprise for fans of the hit Netflix show. Instead of a grim setting with gore, the video game seems to make it friendly for children and young players. The experience seems to be a fun one instead of being dark and gloomy. The cartoonish graphics make the game seem accessible to players of all age groups.
Whether Netflix plans a release for consoles and PCs is still a mystery. For now, the video Game is heading to mobile subscribers.
‘Squid Game: Unleashed’ potential release date
As of now, Netflix is yet to reveal the release date for the Squid Game: Unleashed video game. Fans speculate that a formal release could take place just around the release of the second season of the Korean show, which could help Netflix drive more engagement.
