Mumbai has been ranked as more expensive than Sydney, Berlin and Toronto. This does not come across as a surprise for those living there. Aadesh Chaudhary, who has been a part of TV projects such as Diya Aur Baati Hum, Doli Armaanon Ki, Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Crime Petrol 2.0 and a web show, Sabse Bada Rupaiya, agrees with the survey.

“I have been staying here for the past 18 years. The transport cost and house rent is very high here. I feel it is very expensive in other aspects too,” he says.

It is said that Mumbai is a far more professional and career-centric city.

“I think because of the Film industry, it is a far more professional and career-centric city compared to other cities. There’s a lot of work related to the film industry in this city. I do believe that there’s work and opportunity in every city but if you talk about the film industry then it is mostly available in Mumbai,” he adds.

Aadesh feels Mumbai lacks peace, people are always running.

“That is the biggest con of the city. Life in Mumbai is very fast paced. You don’t get enough time to rest. You’ll find yourself running here and there. I think this city lacks peace somewhere and makes you very stressed. You will find yourself thinking about work constantly. When I visit my hometown, I try not to think about work and relax. But in Mumbai it is hard to not think about your work and live stress-free. At the same time, it is a city of dreams. People do fulfil their dreams in this city. So I believe being able to fulfil your dreams is the biggest pros of this city. The fact that Mumbai is considered quite safe for local Travelling even during night is the best part about this city. You can go out at night and you’ll see people all around you. Mumbai is very safe for women,” he says.

About the two changes he thinks should be done to make it a better city, he adds,

“I would suggest that please try to improve the condition of roads in the city and try to decrease the house rent. If not the rent then please try to manage traffic in a better way. Rest everything is beautiful in Mumbai.”
