2024 Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Factbook examines 70 indicators in five areas that affect the lives of children:

Family and Community

Economic Well-Being

Health

Safety

Education

All areas of child well-being are interrelated and critical throughout a child’s development. A child’s safety in their family and community affects school performance; a child’s economic security affects that child’s Health and Education.

The 2024 Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Factbook reflects these interrelationships and builds a
framework to guide policy, programs, and individual services on behalf of children and youth.

The mission of Rhode Island KIDS COUNT is to improve the Health, safety, Education, economic well-being, and development of Rhode Island’s children with a commitment to equity and the elimination of unacceptable disparities by race, ethnicity, disability, zip code, immigration status, neighborhood, and income.

Their mission is supported by the release of an annual Rhode Island Kids Count Facebook at its annual breakfast event. The report is being released today at an 8am breakfast event, tradition among hundreds of social service providers to attend.

The annual Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Factbook is one of fifty state-level projects designed to provide a detailed community-by-community picture of the condition of children. Agencies and organizations throughout the state use data in the Factbook throughout the year to guide their programs and funding requests.

A national Data Book with comparable data for the U.S. is produced annually by The Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Additional copies of the 2024 Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Factbook are available for $30.00 per copy. Reduced rates are available for bulk orders.

Here is this year’s book – a 199 deep dive in data about children, statewide, comparative to other years, and by city and town.
