Celtic’s signing of Adam Idah for a potential club-record fee of £9.5 million has sparked a mix of reactions, with some fans questioning the valuation.

The striker’s pivotal role last season, scoring crucial late goals and his memorable last-minute winner in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers, highlighted his impact. Despite these heroics, the transfer sum has stirred debate among the supporters.

Brendan Rodgers, however, remains unphased by the criticism surrounding the fee. He defended the decision, stressing Idah’s potential and contributions.

“You cant win, can you?,” Rodgers laughed on Celtic TV.

“You don’t spend money, you do spend money, you spend too much!

“We’ve got a great deal. I know the player that we have here and for me it’s a case of getting him moving in the direction I believe he can move in.

“He has all the talent, he’s 6″3′, he’s quick, he’s strong, his touch is good he can score goals, he has big moments in big Games.

“There are still areas he can improve on, of course, as a young player that’s what you can expect.

“Whatever money we paid for him he’s worth every single penny of it and he’ll demonstrate that in the next 24 months, he’ll be worth a lot more than that.”

His contributions last season paid for his transfer. When you take a step back at look at it, without Idah and the goals he scored, Celtic probably wouldn’t have gone on to win the league or the Scottish Cup.

He’s still young and has plenty of potential, and Rodgers rates him very highly. The board backed the manager and splashed the cash, which there is plenty of in the bank.
