Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers spoke post-match against Hibernian about the future of Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

The Irishman was open and honest about his position in the situation.

Rodgers said: (Premier Sports), “I don’t know is the honest answer. You see with him that he is an incredibly talented player.

“There is a value we have for him, and if that’s not met he will be here – it’s as simple as that. He is really happy here, but it has to be something that draws him away.

“I am not overthinking it. We all know the model here at Celtic – players will improve and they will get to a level that get beyond, not the club, but in terms of the financial salary. But until that comes we continue to work with him.”

As some would assume, ultimately Rodgers can’t make players stay if the right offer comes in.

With Celtic’s model of selling players when their value reaches a certain level, the club will not stand in their way, as it never has before.

What the future holds for Matt O’Riley remains to be seen, but if the right offer comes in before the transfer window closes, it is undoubtedly possible that he will depart the club.

For the time being, O’Riley remains a Celtic player and continues to be a vital part of the Hoops’ midfield.

If he does leave Paradise, he will be sadly missed by not only the supporters but everyone who works at the club.
