Will Jason Kelce be in the TV broadcast team for Falcons - Eagles on ESPN?
Jason Kelce brought his NFL career to an end in March after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles but very much remains in the public eye in the world of football as a result of his new role in the media.
The 36-year-old won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles in the 2017 season, was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, and six-time first-team All-Pro selection. He is regarded by many as one of the greatest centers in NFL history, despite only being picked 191st in round six of the 2011 Draft.
Kelce has, of course, been known for his exuberant personality for some time, which comes across in New Heights, the podcast he hosts with brother Travis, the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end.
Jason Kelce’s memorable ESPN analyst debut
That made him an ideal candidate for him to be snapped up by broadcasters following his retirement, which is exactly what happened. In April, it was announced Kelce would be joining ESPN as an analyst on “Monday Night Countdown,” the network’s Monday Night Football preGame show, on which he also provides halftime commentary.
He made a memorable debut in Week 1, when the San Francisco 49ers hosted the New York Jets. Host Scott Van Pelt revealed Kelce was “wearing a shirt he got at the mall because he left his Travel bag in the truck,” to which the NFL star responded in true Jason Kelce fashion:
“It fits my belly now, I’ve lost a little bit of weight, but my tits are still struggling,” the ex-Eagles center joked.
Kelce set for “crazy” return to Philadelphia for Falcons - Eagles
This Monday (September 16), Kelce returns to familiar surroundings, specifically Lincoln Financial Field as Philadelphia host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2′s Monday Night Football. The Ohio native is scheduled to be part of the broadcast team for the game, with ESPN to broadcast live from Xfinity Live, the sports bar next to the Eagles’ home stadium.
“It’s a bold decision,” Kelce told The Inquirer. “It’s going to be crazy. I really don’t know how it’s going to work.”
Ahead of the Chiefs-Bills playoff game in January, the 36-year-old was filmed downing a bowling ball filled with alcohol at a tailgate party after heading along to Bills Stadium to watch his brother in action. Should viewers be expecting something similar on Monday?
