Just days after picking up Russell Wilson and shedding all three of their previous quarterbacks, the Steelers shocked the league by trading for Justin Fields. The new NFL Landscape sees Pittsburgh loaded at the QB spot, but opens up doors, as well as questions, for the Chicago Bears.

With the first overall pick in the draft, it is no secret that the Bears are going to go for a quarterback. Even before they traded away Fields, it was almost a given. They have been openly lusting after 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

While Williams remains the most likely choice, there are a few other options for them to turn to. The second choice for them would be the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, LSU’s Jayden Daniels. Rumors have him more suited to the CoMMAnders offense, but there is always something that the teams see which surprises the media and fans.

There are two other big QB names in the draft and they are North Carolina’s Drake Maye and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy. It doesn’t seem likely that the Bears will dig that deep into the draft class, but you never know. Stranger things have happened.

While the draft class is packed, one thing that the Bears are lacking is any type of veteran presence to help ease these guys into the NFL. They could pick up a vet in free agency, and with a lot of experienced names out there, that would be my bet is that they will pick one up as a safety measure.

But all things considered, it looks for all the world like Caleb Williams will be under center in the Windy City come fall 2024.
