Another week in the NFL season has come and gone. Now that we’re two weeks into the season, things are becoming a bit clearer in the fantasy world. Week 2 provided plenty of surprises and new injuries to be aware of. With all that in mind, here are our less obvious starters for NFL Fantasy Week 3.

NFL Fantasy 2024 - Week 3 roster recommendations

Quarterbacks

  • Saints Derek Carr
  • Bengals Joe Burrow

The Saints came into Dallas and absolutely demolished the Cowboys. After an outstanding Week 1 performance from Derek Carr, it was unclear whether or not he was successful just because the Saints played the Panthers, who are one of the worst teams in the league right now. But after Sunday’s performance against the Cowboys and two straight weeks of 20+ fantasy points, Carr is worth picking up as he is still free in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Joe Burrow has started off the season slow but is *slowly* starting to look more like himself after Week 2, when he threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns, putting up 17.6 fantasy points. In Week 3, the Bengals will face the Washington Commanders, who allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks and aren’t looking any better this season so far.

Wide Receivers

  • Saints Chris Olave
  • Bengals Tee Higgins
  • Ravens Zay Flowers

Olave has had a slow start to the season, but he saw a huge improvement in Week 2, catching four of six targets for 81 yards and putting up 12.8 fantasy points to Week 1′s 3.1. He has a favorable matchup against the Eagles in Week 3 as their pass defense has been struggling.

Obviously, keep an eye on Higgins and only start him if he’s definitely returning in Week 3. If he is though, he’s likely to share some significant targets with Ja’Marr Chase. The Commanders allowed the second-most fantasy points to receivers last season.

Flowers’ targets increased in Week 2 with seven receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown for the Ravens, establishing himself as Lamar Jackson’s favorite. They’ll be up against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, a team who just gave up massive explosive plays to the Saints receivers in Week 2.

Running Backs

  • 49ers Jordan Mason
  • Patriots Antonio Gibson
  • Commanders Brian Robinson

With Christian McCaffrey on Injured Reserve, he’s set to miss at least three more games, which means Jordan Mason will continue to play a big role in the 49ers offense. In Week 2, Mason ran 20 times for 100 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings.

Antonio Gibson actually led the Patriots in rushing yards in Week 2 with 96 yards on 11 carries, an 8.7 yards per rush on average. Rhamondre Stevenson is still expected to get the majority of carries, but Gibosn is worth a start as the Pats continue to lean on their run Game.

Brian Robinson Jr. had an easy matchup against the New York Giants in Week 2, but even still, his 17 carries for 133 yards is impressive. The matchup against the Bengals isn’t great, but when Robinson is in, he should take advantage of their defense’s struggles against the run.

Tight Ends

  • Bills Dalton Kincaid

While Kincaid’s stats through the first two weeks are less than impressive, there’s not a lot more going on at the tight end position so far this season. And despite only seeing four targets in Week 2 against the Dolphins, Kincaid caught all four of them for 33 yards. And against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week, it could be his best game yet.
