Devin Haney is a boxing phenomenon. That is without doubt. The former undisputed Lightweight champion has taken down George Kambosos, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Jorge Linares, and Yuriorkis Gamboa before stepping up to 140 and dismantling Regis Prograis completely.

Born in Oakland, Haney moved to Las Vegas at 14 years old and started Boxing at the age of seven, Haney amassed an amateur record of 138-8, winning several National Championships along the way.

“The Dream” opened his professional career at the age of 17 in Mexico with a knockout of Gonzalo Lopez Rodriguez in Tijuana. Legally, he could not fight professionally in the United States until he turned 18, so his first four bouts were south of the border.

Haney and Garcia compared

Perhaps because of this, Haney’s 31-0 career has flown largely under the radar despite taking down some of the biggest names in the business.

As a world title fight, this bout with Ryan Garcia will go 12 rounds, and at 5′8″ tall, Haney is a shade shorter than his 5′8.5″ opponent. The reach advantage is with Haney however, with his 71″ reach one full inch further than Garcia’s. They both weigh in around 140lbs.

Nearly half of Haney’s 31 wins have come by way of knockout, with 15 stoppages inside regulation. Between the two fighters, Haney is better by far, leading in every skillset: faster, stronger, more varied weapons. Garcia is no pushover and in championship Boxing anything can happen, but it is difficult to see this as anything other than another notch in Haney’s perfect record.
