Real Madrid are the most successful team in European comPetition. The self-proclaimed ‘Kings of Europe’ have won the crown a record 14 times, most recently in 2022 when they beat Liverpool in the final in Paris.

They are on the charge once again this year and progressed to the semifinals with a hard-fought victory over Manchester City on Wednesday. The first leg was drawn 3-3 and Madrid struck first in the return fixture at the Etihad Stadium. City levelled in the second half through Kevin de Bruyne but they failed to find a winner in extra-time.

The Game was to be decided by a penalty shootout. Things started poorly for Madrid as Luka Modric missed his spot kick. However, subsequent misses for Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic handed the visitors the momentum and, after no further failures, Antonio Rudiger converted his penalty to send his side into the final four of the Champions League.

It was a night to remember for Real Madrid as they chase a historic, an unthinkable, 15th European crown. After another dramatic Champions League victory, few would bet against them going all the way this year.
