What Kasper Schmeichel “Really loves” About Celtic Already
New Celtic number one Kasper Schmeichel watched on from the stands as the Hoops put DC United to the sword in a dominant 4-0 victory overnight.
It was an evening full of positives for manager Brendan Rodgers, who praised his side’s attitude and ‘exceptional’ levels in the pre-season friendly.
After being announced as the Bhoys’ second summer signing on Thursday night, new stopper Schmeichel made his way to the US in time for the clash with DC.
He didn’t play, but spoke to Celtic’s official media post-match, revealing what he already loves about the club.
“I just want to get back to playing Football”, he said.
“Coming to a club with such a rich History of winning, a culture of draws aren’t enough, the only thing that matters is winning, that’s the one thing that I really love about this club is that that’s the mentality – you have to go out and win every comPetition that you’re in.”
Already, Schmeichel comprehends the elite standards at Celtic.
The acquisition of the veteran is as shrewd as it is wise from the club, and backing him up with Viljami Sinisalo is even more encouraging.
The Finn will learn from the Premier League winner over the next year or two before he eventually takes the reigns as number one. In the goalkeeping department, Celtic are in safe hands over the near and distant future.
