Most of Golf’s biggest names are resting, injured or on their way across the pond to get used to the climate and playing in conditions in Scotland. On July 11, some of Golf’s top players will comPete in the Scottish Open and we’ll see Rory McIlroy as he comes back after his disappointing finish at the US Open. But, let’s focus on the guys sweating it out in Illinois this weekend.

With such low scores on Thursday, mainly due to soft conditions at TPC Deere Run, where players were targeting flags all day, those who want to play on Saturday and Sunday will have to be well under par.

What’s the cut line at the John Deere Classic?

The projected cut line is 5-under par (-5). The top 65 players and ties will make it into the weekend as well as those who are within 10 shots of the leader.

So, anyone currently at 4-under par or worse isn’t going to make the cut. Chances are that cut line will move this afternoon, but that’s just a guess and we’ll keep you informed here. Currently some names you may recognize who are below the cut line are:

Big names currently under the cut line

  • Kevin Streelman
  • Wesley Bryan
  • Ryan Palmer
  • Matt Kuchar
  • Neal Shipley
  • Peter Malnati
  • Nick Dunlap

We’ve seen players struggle lately on some tough courses like Pinehurst #2, which is fun in its own way, but this weekend will be entertaining as well to see just how low players can go.
