Celtic Put Match-Worn Shirts from 7-1 Dortmund Defeat Up for Auction
Celtic have put their match-worn shirts from the 7-1 Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund up for auction on Match Worn Shirts, giving fans the chance to own a piece of the club’s European journey—even if it came during a tough night in Germany.
The Hoops’ unbeaten start to the season came to a crashing end as they were outclassed by a Borussia Dortmund side led by the electric Karim Adeyemi. Despite Daizen Maeda briefly levelling the Game after Emre Can’s early penalty, the night belonged to the Bundesliga giants. Adeyemi’s hat-trick and further goals from Serhou Guirassy and Felix Nmecha saw the German side cruise to victory, handing Celtic a harsh Champions League lesson.
Now, Celtic are giving fans the opportunity to bid on these match-worn shirts, with all proceeds going to the Celtic FC Foundation. Callum McGregor’s shirt is currently leading the bids at £273, while Greg Taylor’s is sitting at £118, offering supporters a chance to secure memorabilia from a significant—if difficult—chapter in the club’s European campaign.
Supporters have until the 12 of October to bid for these match-worn shirts. It’s doubtful that the prices will reach the heights that they would have if Celtic had gotten a result or at least had a less humbling experience.
