Jerry Jones in the media again for saying something bizarre - what a shock! On Tuesday, Jones was speaking on 105.3 The Fan as he typically does on Tuesday mornings, but things quickly got tense as he was asked some difficult questions that suggested he might take some responsibility for the current roster - the roster that led them to the worst blowout loss in Jones’ 35 years as the owner of the Dallas Cowboys.

If you missed it, here’s the full story from yesterday. But a quick recap: Basically, Jones threatened to fire radio hosts Shan Shariff, RJ Choppy, and Bobby Belt for daring to insinuate that the owner, general manager, and president of the team (who insists on having full control over personnel moves) might be the reason for their lack of success this season. That didn’t sit well with pretty much anyone, and Jones received quite a bit of backlash for his defensive and iMMAture reaction.

Jerry Jones defends outburst with ridiculous explanation

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini spoke with Jerry Jones later that day and he explained his reaction.

“I don’t know that I would go as far as (calling) the volume connotation as yelling. OK? But the facts are that if I’m going to be grilled by the tribunal, I don’t need it to be by the guys I’m paying,” Jones said.

“I can take it from fans and take it from other people. I take a lot of pride in how fair and how much I try to work with the media, we’re brothers and sisters. But I was a little frustrated there today... The wrong ones were doing the questioning. Now, if those had been real fans sitting there or if there had been people that knew what they were talking about, Football people, I might have had a different answer.”

Basically, he’s saying that the media don’t count as “football people”, but fans do, and that he can only take criticism from fans (i.e. those who don’t call him out directly to his face). Whether or not Jones actually fires anyone who dares criticize his decisions, the media is not going to stop doing it.
