Celtic may not have officially confirmed the signing of 22-year-old Finnish goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, but he’s on the flight to America with the Celtic squad with his Celtic gear on, so we’re going to connect the dots. The player has signed a five year deal from Aston Villa.

Sinisalo played 50 Games for Exeter City, showcasing his talents and gaining invaluable experience. The Finnish international has already proven himself to be a reliable presence between the sticks. He managed to keep 13 clean sheets throughout the season and demonstrated his penalty-saving prowess by stopping three out of eight penalties faced.

His performances in League One caught the eye of many, but with Aston Villa’s plethora of goalkeeping options, Sinisalo’s path to the first team was blocked. Celtic have capitalised on this opportunity, securing a promising talent with many years ahead to develop and impress.

Sinisalo is expected to initially serve as a backup goalkeeper for the Hoops. With the arrival of imminent arrival of Kasper Schmeichel as the the number one, Sinisalo’s role will be crucial in providing depth and comPetition within the position. Above that, he is being groomed to be Celtic’s next number one working alongside Kasper and under the guidance of Stevie Woods.
