Any marathon or long distance runner will tell you that the most testing conditions are caused by rain. Add fresh temperatures to the mix and an already complicated task (that of running 26 miles) can be made that little more complex.

With the Boston Marathon traditionally held on Patriot’s Day (which is a holiday in Maine and Massachusetts), the mid April weather can be unpredictable and create an additional difficulty for the 30,000 runners who take to the streets of the city in the world’s oldest marathon.

There is however good news for participants who are finalizing plans with their kit laid out, race bib in pristine condition and gels at the ready, the forecast for Monday in ‘Beantown’ is for a dry day.

According to World Weather, runners taking their place on the starting grid will be greeted by blue skies and a fresh temperature of 54F. Humidity levels will be at 87% and come midday, the temperature will increase slightly to hit 59F.

Ideal conditions for runners, organisers and volunteers ahead of the 128th edition of the Boston Marathon.
