“We haven’t spent a great deal” – Encouraging Brendan Rodgers Transfer Update
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has given an encouraging transfer update at Lennoxtown this afternoon.
With a week remaining in the summer window, the Hoops have yet to bring in any new outfield players.
Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah have been permanently acquired, along with Viljami Sinisalo and Kasper Schmeichel between the sticks.
Despite this, the boss has several positions he would like strengthened between now and the end of next Friday.
As he looks to do so, Rodgers has today stated that his club haven’t spent a lot of money this summer and that there could be a flurry of activity over the next seven days.
“We haven’t spent a great deal of money in terms of what we’re at and where we expect to be at as a club”, he said (Sky Sports).
“I would look at us over the next week to be able to do some Business and it shouldn’t be reliant on players going out.
“We’re virtually running at the same as where we were last season.
“If our idea is to improve, hopefully, we’ll be active in the market over the next week.”
The Parkhead faithful will likely be encouraged by today’s update, but it remains to be seen whether Rodgers will be backed.
The gaps in the squad are clear for all to see, and if the club want to push on and maintain domestic dominance as well as compete in Europe, there needs to be investment between now and deadline day.
