This Hudson Valley, New York Rescue Wants Your Shoes
Got shoes?
Well, you probably have a few different shoe options, but curious if you might have some shoes taking up space in your closet that you just need to admit you're NEVER going to wear again, but you just haven't made that step to get rid of them.
True story, I had reconstructive ankle surgery and there's an entire bin of shoes in my closet that I know i'll never be able to wear again; my ankle just isn't strong enough to withstand heels or flats, even my favorite pair of converse sneakers.
This may be the perfect way to get those shoes to someone who needs them, while also benefitting a great local cause.
Take Me Home Pet Rescue Wants Your Shoes!
Take Me Home Pet Rescue, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization out of Milton, has a mission to save the lives of dogs and puppies who are in high kill shelters with a risk of being euthanized. They do wonderful work in the area, helping so many pups find their furever homes.
They're currently working with Funds2Orgs to collect gently used shoes (that's where you come in) that will be sent to third world countries. They have a goal to collect enough shoe donations to fill 100 bags, with each bag containing 25 shoes, and if they achieve that goal, the rescue will receive an award of $1,000.
That means the Hudson Valley needs to come through with 2,500 pairs of shoes, stat!

Donations Now Being Accepted
You've got some time to go through the closet, that random shelf now filled with shoes in the garage, the kiddos rooms, checking under beds for shoes they've outgrown, and put together a donation bag.
Just make sure the shoes are new or gently worn, that you have a matching pair, and that they aren't damaged or broken.
Shoes can be brought to several local drop-off locations across the Hudson Vally through November, find your closest spot below:
