Where to eat?

Start the day right with a brunch at Australian eatery Catch or Italian joint Ask for Alonzo. Both will provide you with the fuel you need to explore the neighbourhood. Or you can also come later in the day and take advantage of the happy hour drinks. If you’re indecisive about what to eat, we can’t recommend a better place than KIN Food Halls. It’s a food court that has over 40 eateries all under one roof. So, make sure you come hungry.

Quarry Bay also has no shortage of international cuisine destinations. Let’s start with Camper’s, a camping-themed Japanese eatery. Not only do they serve Japanese comfort food in a unique setting, but the meals are also Healthy, with low additives and minimal fat. It’s easy to see why it gets crowded during peak hours. There are many other Japanese restaurants to love in Quarry Bay. While Hakodate Restaurant specialises in shio (salt-based ramen), TMK Funk & Rolls and Honjokko serve delicious handrolls and sushi.

Moving on to Mediterranean delights, Enoteca has been a mainstay in the neighbourhood for more than a decade. Their tapas and Italian plates have got residents hooked. On the other end of the spectrum is F.I.G.S. Bistro Mediterranean & Apéro Terrace Bar which only opened recently. The airy restaurant boasts both indoor and outdoor dining which is perfect for any time of the day. The menu has dishes from France, Italy, Greece, and Spain so you have plenty of options.

For a little bit of spice, don’t miss Tulsi and their delicious Indian food. We also swear by the traditional hand-pulled dan dan noodles at Grand Cuisine Shanghai Kitchen. For fuss-free options like mussels and fries visit Frite or savour some creamy pasta at Pici. And of course, you can never go wrong with the steak at The Butchers Club Grille. They also serve high-quality seafood if meat is not up your alley.

For that much-needed dose of caffeine, The Coffee Academics can be the best place. We also love HAVN Coffee not only for its ethically sourced brews but also for its use of a fully plastic-free cup. Non-coffee lovers must stop by Grotto. The sparkling lemonade here is a refreshing sip of energy. For a quick bite, we recommend getting their signature scones that come in different flavours.

Fancy a drink after a day of exploring? Mr & Mrs Fox is a buzzy place for gathering. It’s popular for brunch but also has a great happy hour deal. It has plenty of space with a three-storey sitting area! Quarry Bay also has an amazing view of the cityscape. Head to the rooftop bar and deck, Sugar for some classy cocktails and snacks and enjoy an incredible sunset view late afternoon. Need some fresh air? Tempo Tempo’s al fresco terrazza is great for a lazy afternoon while sipping some bubbly champagne or cocktails.

Other than your average mom-and-pop shops, Quarry Bay is home to Cityplaza. Being the largest shopping mall on Island East, you’ll be spoiled for choice with the selection of local and international brands here. Watch a movie, have fun at the ice-skating rink, or shop until you drop.

Taikoo Place has a mix of shopping, dining, and Entertainment facilities. If you’re visiting between November and February, drop by Tong Chong Street Market and browse through the stalls selling all kinds of eco-friendly products. Take a stroll around Hoi Kwong Court Shopping Arcade and find independent stores and boutiques. You’ll be surprised at the clothing, accessories, and knick-knacks available at bargain prices.

What to do?

Quarry Bay has plenty of fun activities to offer regardless of your interests. Love art? Taikoo Place’s ArtisTree is a space that hosts arts and cultural events including exhibitions, movie screenings and fashion shows. Channel your creativity at Gowld Art Centre and sign up for a painting or pottery class. They also have new themes every month, so you’ll get to experience something fresh every time. Also, don’t forget to drop by Para/Site, an independent art gallery in town which focuses on local artists. They have some amazing and interesting exhibitions.

For those who love Sports, try your hand (and feet) at Verm City, an indoor rock-climbing gym. Or you can have fun at Ryze, one of the biggest trampoline parks in the city.
