Besides working for Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley, I also DoorDash on the side for some extra money. Radio can be fun, but it does not pay the big bucks! So right after work, I'll hop in the car and start Dashing. Fortunately for me, the area around the radio station is filled with plenty of colleges. Colleges where students are constantly ordering delivery!

Now, I've only been DoorDashing for 6 months, but within that time, I have noticed a lot of trends of when it comes to what students seem to order. Proximity absolutely plays a role, but you'd be surprised what certain students go for. One Dutchess County college, in particular, orders the most amount of junk food. Honestly, this college surprised me big-time!

Here, let's break down the 4 major colleges that are located right around the corner from the Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley building: Vassar College, Dutchess Community College, Marist College, and the Culinary Institute of America.

Pretty Decent Food Orders: Vassar College

Vassar College, by far, orders the most authentic food. Honestly, it makes sense because there are a lot of awesome restaurants right around the college. Several restaurants I stop into most of the time include Hurricane Bar & Grill, Chan's Pecking, Thai Spice, Sushi Village, Tokyo Express, Fresco Tortillas, The Crafted Cup, and Deshi Grocery & Deli. Vassar College probably frequents the most amount of local Businesses than any other college. Yes, I do deliver Wendy's and Taco Bell since they are so close, but those are rare occasions.

Mid-Tier Food Orders: Dutchess Community College and Marist College

Marist College and Dutchess Community College, despite being surrounded by a lot of fast food restaurants, have a vast variety of food orders. Yes, I've delivered McDonald's and Burger King to the campuses, but I've also delivered some really good orders from some really good restaurants to both. For instance, I'll deliver food from Eveready Diner, Palace Diner, Ichiddo Ramen, Cue & Brew, Applebee's, Cosimo's and more. Even when it is fast food, it's a lot of Salsa Fresca and Chipotle, which are relatively better for you.

I'd also say that I deliver the most pizza to Dutchess and Marist. Honestly, can you blame them? You got TnF, Touch of Napples, Giacomo's, Kokopelli's, Little Caesar's and more within 10 minutes of each campus!

The Worst Delivery Orders: The Culinary Institute of America

Believe it or not, the students at the Culinary Institute of America order the most junk food than any other college I deliver to, and I have a theory! First of all, the orders I typically bring over to the Culinary include McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC, Jersey Mike's, Five Guys and pretty much any other chain you can think of. Honestly, I've found that Culinary students order from more chain restaurants than local restaurants compared to any other college.

My theory is that since they are surrounded by amazing food all day and are training with the top ingredients, they need a break! After learning how to prepare the most exquisite seafood platters and the most pristine steaks, they just want to unwind with a Big Mac or Cheesy Double Beef Burrito. Whether you go to the Culinary or not, what do you think of my theory? Why do you think they order the most fast foods from chain restaurants than any other Dutchess County college?
