The Macallan is celebrating its 200-year anniversary with a new special edition that celebrates the distillery’s journey through the ages.

Named the TIME:SPACE collection, the offering features a twin-chamber decanter design where an outer halo houses The Macallan’s oldest expression in the form of an 84-year-old single malt whisky from a first-fill American Oak Butt and a second-fill European Oak Butt that have both been matured in Speyside, Scotland.

The inner chamber fast-forwards the distillery’s History to 2018 (aged five years) with the first vintage created at its new distillery. This liquid timeline represents the legacy of The Macallan and its dedication to crafting single malts since 1824. Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker, The Macallan, commented: “It was an absolute privilege to be able to reach back in time and select stock from the 1940’s to honour and celebrate our 200-year anniversary.  As a Whisky Mastery Team, our roles are unique in the sense that we get to time Travel – selecting whisky from the past crafted by our predecessors, whilst simultaneously laying down casks for future generations of whisky makers and consumers. To nose, taste and select whisky created over eight decades ago is an exceptionally rare occasion in the life of a whisky maker and one which I will treasure.”

The TIME : SPACE tasting notes include dark chocolate, coffee, dried fruits, ginger, aniseed, and smoked wood. This batch us extremely limited with 200 examples and will be priced close to $190,000. Head over to The Macallan website now to learn more.
