Taylor Swift donates $100K to family of victim who lost her life at Kansas City Chiefs victory parade

As the Chiefs and the nation as a whole attempt to come to terms with what occurred during the team’s Super Bowl victory parade, it’s clear that gun violence - regardless of political stance - is something that continues to plague the nation. Regardless, Taylor Swift stepped up to the plate and that’s something to be recognized and respected.

Taylor Swift donates $100K to family of victim in Missouri

According to reports, pop star Taylor Swift has donated $100,000 to the family of one of the victims of Wednesday’s shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade. In support of the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a woman who was killed in the shooting, a GoFundMe fundraiser was started. It is understood that Swift gave two $50,000 donations in an act of kindness to the family of the 43-year-old.

“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift,” Swift wrote in a post with her donation. Swift’s act was then confirmed by her representative who explained that the donation did in fact come from the 34-year-old singer. Incidentally, the original goal of the GoFundme campaign was $75,000, however, as of Friday it had amassed nearly $200,000 including Swift’s signed donations.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan cared about her community

A wife and mother of two children, Lopez-Galvan was a local DJ who worked for a community radio station called KKFI and was the co-host of “Tejano Tuesday,” a show that focused on the celebration of Hispanic music. Needless to say, the station itself was left in a state of shock. “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life,” KKFI said in a statement shared on Facebook. “This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community.”

Like the large majority of those in attendance that day, she was celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory when shots were fired on the street near the west side of Union Station. The shooting ended up injuring 22 others, including nine children. Incidentally, Lopez-Galvan’s adult son was also among those who suffered a gunshot wound, in addition to one of her cousins. Where Swift is concerned, she will be resuming her “Eras Tour” in Melbourne, Australia on Friday.
