Sead Haksabanovic was somewhat of a forgotten man at Celtic until the Montenegrin winger was sold by Celtic to Swedish champions Malmo.

A week after his move, the winger has openly blamed manager Brendan Rodgers for his departure from the Scottish club.

Despite a cryptic social media post last season expressing his dissatisfaction with limited playing time—a post he later deleted—Haksabanovic claims it was Rodgers, not the club’s board, who pushed for his exit.

Last year, he took to the social media platform, posting the message, “If they don’t see your value maybe you’re not at the right place.”

Now, with his future to play out in Sweden, after a year on loan with Stoke City, Haksabanovic has opened up on his Celtic exit.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, he said, “Yes, mostly (it was down to) him (Rodgers), because the board wanted me to stay. They believed in me but he had other plans.”

It’s really no wonder that Brendan Rodgers was keen to get rid of the player. He made his bed last season and has had to lie in it.

He clearly was passionate about playing for Celtic, but he just failed to show that on the pitch through his performances.
