The Seattle Kraken (5-7-1) and Colorado Avalanche (5-7-0) meet Tuesday night in Denver. The opening faceoff at Ball Arena will be at 9 p.m. (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Kraken vs. Avalanche odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Season series: Colorado leads 1-0
Seattle played Saturday and Sunday, dropping games at the Ottawa Senators (3-0) and Boston Bruins (2-0). The Kraken have lost 3 straight games in a road trip that opened last Tuesday. Over that trio of losses, Seattle has been outscored 9-1.
Colorado has also lost 3 consecutive games. The Avalanche have been snowed under by the same score, 5-2, in each of those 3 games and overall have allowed an abysmal 4.25 goals per game. That average ranks last in the NHL.

Kraken at Avalanche projected goalies
Philipp Grubauer (1-4-0, 2.89 GAA, .886 SV%) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (1-4-0, 4.62 GAA, .822 SV%)
Grubauer played Saturday, when he logged 20 saves against 22 shots in a 3-0 loss at Ottawa. The former Avalanche netminder (2018-21) has been a bit of a slow starter over his career. He’s registered a .900 SV% in 43 career October games and an .893 mark in 41 career November contests. Grubauer owns a career .911 SV% or better in every other month.
Georgiev has played in just 1 Game since Oct. 18. He has allowed at least 3 goals in each of 6 appearances this season.

Kraken at Avalanche picks and predictions
Prediction
Kraken 3, Avalanche 2
Moneyline
These clubs met in Seattle Oct. 22, and the Avs prevailed 3-2. G Justus Annunen was Colorado’s netminder in that one, and he was solid in stopping 25 of 27 pucks. That contest was part of a 3-0-0 Colorado road trip, and that trip marks just about the only non-awful goaltending the Avalanche have gotten in a month.
But the rested Georgiev and the Avs are the better value play in Tuesday’s home Game against the Kraken. Puck-possession numbers, scoring chances, and high-hanger comparisons all point to better days ahead for Colorado.
And the Avs are catching a Seattle club that has cranked out just 22.4 shots per Game over their last 5. The Kraken power play has come up empty in 5 of the team’s last 6 Games.
TAKE THE AVALANCHE (-175).
Puck line/Against the spread
No interest here: PASS.
Over/Under
The earlier meeting in Seattle hit the Under (6.5), and the Under is 7-2-1 across the last 10 series matchups.
Even-strength expected-goal analytics are bearish on the Seattle offense and bullish on the Colorado defense (at least to the point that would make the Avs merely below average).
TAKE THE UNDER 6.5 (-120).
