Scott McTominay makes admission over 'toxic' Man Utd dressing room
Scott McTominay has admitted the Manchester United dressing room has turned "toxic" under previous managers but the squad remain fully behind current boss Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag has been accused of losing the United dressing room, with further reports emerging after the weekend's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
While McTominay acknowledged that previous managers have battled a miserable atmosphere in the Old Trafford dressing room, the Scotland midfielder insisted there is full support for Ten Hag as he seeks to turn the club's fortunes around.
"It is the players' responsibility, first and foremost, the players know that as well," McTominay told a press conference ahead of Tuesday's make-or-break Champions League clash with Bayern Munich. "We have had many amazing players and right now we are at the stage where we have big characters in the dressing-room.
"It is not just a case of like some of the other managers where it has been a little bit toxic at times, the boys are firmly behind the manager. That is the way it will stay.
"We have got an amazing coaching staff as well so it can get lost in translation with what the players think and what is said behind closed doors, we just want to do well for the Football club."
Man Utd recently banned a number of journalists from Ten Hag's press conferences at Carrington after they reported the claims of unrest in the dressing room.
Since those rumours emerged, the Red Devils impressively beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford before falling to their tenth defeat of the season so far at the hands of Bournemouth.
Ten Hag's team are now set to face off against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, knowing that even a victory could see them exit the competition early, before then facing Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
While two more defeats would lump even more pressure on Ten Hag, 90min understands that, as things stand, Man Utd's hierarchy are currently fully behind the ex-Ajax manager.
