“Bunch of bogan ferals,” another user said.

The act of the previous barbie user was labelled “un-Australian”, with some Reddit posters furiously stating that it was commonly known etiquette to clean up after yourself.

“It’s not Australian etiquette, it’s just not being a f****** c*** etiquette,” one user commented.

“Not being a f****** c***: The real Australian etiquette,” a user responded.

“And almost guarantee it was done by the self-proclaimed ‘most Aussie ever’ type of people,” another person agreed.

“There really are some major grots in our country,” one user commented. “People wonder why councils are removing public barbecue facilities.”

“The people who leave them like this are the same people who bitch when they get shut down,” someone responded.

Cleaning tips shared

Users in the comments gave tips for cleaning barbecues for those who may not have done it before.

“Take baking paper or alfoil and put it on the barbecue to cook,” one user suggested.

“When you’re done, you just throw the paper or foil away and wipe the barbecue down.”

Brisbane City Council maintains more than 2180 parks across the city, with barbecues in over 420. While staff do maintain these spaces, it is still understood that people should clean up after themselves.

In the words of one Reddit user: “If you’re going to use public utilities such as this, leave it the way you found it or in better condition than you found it.”
