Pregnant Peta Murgatroyd straps watermelons on Maksim Chmerkovskiy so he understands how ‘huge’ she feels

Peta Murgatroyd likes to share everything with her husband, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, including her pregnancy.

In an exclusive interview with Page Six at the 2024 Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards on Saturday, Chmerkovskiy, 44, revealed that Murgatroyd “keeps strapping watermelons” on him so he understands how “huge” she feels.

Earlier this month, the “Dancing With the Stars” pro — who is 36 weeks pregnant with the couple’s third child — and the “DWTS” alum posted a joint Instagram video showing the first time she attached the giant fruit to his belly via plastic wrap.

But Chmerkovskiy told us Murgatroyd has forced him to sport the weighted look — which includes oranges on his chest — two more times since.

“Basically, she said it’s not hard enough, so she made me do it again. And this time, she’s like, ‘I’m gonna make you do some random s–t,'” he explained while walking the red carPet at the Fairmont Century Plaza hotel in Los Angeles.

“She goes and drops a pen. She’s like, ‘Pick it up. Pick it up.’ Oh my God, it was so difficult. She made me go around the house. ‘Put on shoes. Pick this up. Get the baby out of the crib, and you have to go really fast because you have to pee. Get out of bed. Roll from left to right.’ With a watermelon crushing my freaking lungs!”

“I’m like, ‘This is terrible. I don’t know how you do it,'” the Ukraine native admitted, which echoed how he felt after the initial go.

“THIS SUCKED!” Chmerkovskiy wrote alongside the hilarious clip, which showed him attempting to do a dance routine as Murgatroyd, 37, watched and munched on a bag of potato chips.

He shared at the time that his “diaphragm” was “upset” with him “for agreeing to do this,” noting that his wife was “way too happy the whole time 😤.”

“WOW how uncomfortable this is! I cannot believe Peta ties her shoes, holds Rio all day, still dances and in general makes it look so easy 🤷🏻‍♂️🤯,” he confessed, adding to no avail, “I hope she doesn’t make me do this again.”

Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd — who share sons Shai, 7, and Rio, almost 1 — revealed the “unexpected news” that they were expecting again in February just seven month after welcoming their second child.

When we asked the “Traitors” Season 2 star what he was most excited about with baby No. 3, he replied candidly, “This coming to an end. I just want Peta back. This is the same summer we had last summer where we can’t go anywhere, we can’t do anything.”

“Not that it’s anything bad,” he made sure to note, “but I’m saying we have plans that got interrupted again.”

Though Chmerkovskiy loves that he and Murgatroyd will be parents to “three beautiful boys,” he’s also looking forward to “next summer,” as the pair “will be in Europe — drunk.”

As for whether their kids will go with them, the dancer-choreographer said yes, but only if the boys’ grandparents come, too.
