The Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees meet Sunday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. Here’s a NY Yankees vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction. This will be the final installment in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Yankees vs Pirates pick.

Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview

Pittsburgh took on the Milwaukee Brewers in their last set. The Pirates lost two of three in that series. After a 4-2 win over New York on Friday, in Game two Pittsburgh kept it going with a big win 9-4.

In the starter slot for the Pirates on Sunday it’ll be Bailey Falter. So far Falter is 8-9 with a 4.26 ERA in 27 starts. Over 87 career Games (58 starts) Falter is 18-23 with a 4.56 ERA.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

Over on the New York side, they played the Baltimore Orioles in their last series. New York lost the first two games before a Thursday win 10-1. In Saturday’s matchup New York fell behind 5-1 by the sixth inning in the rough loss.

Clarke Schmidt will start for the Yankees on Sunday. So far this year Schmidt is 5-5 with a 2.55 ERA in 15 starts. Schmidt is 19-20 with a 3.88 ERA in 82 career Games (52 starts).

NY Yankees vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

I’m leaning toward the Yankees. Schmidt is 0-2 in his last three starts but he hasn’t pitched terribly. In that trio Schmidt has six earned over 16.0 total innings of work. As for Falter, he’s coming off four earned in 5.0 innings versus the Brewers but was pitching pretty well before that.

On Saturday the Yankees couldn’t find much success against seven different Pirates pitchers, including starter Paul Skenes (2.0 clean innings; three Ks). New York had a couple of ugly pitching outings themselves, including from Luis Gil (5.2 innings; six earned) in the start. The Yankees really need a win here in order to finish strong. This has not been a good series thus far.
