We didn't know what to expect from Vincent Kompany ahead of his first season managing an elite team. His Bayern Munich side have impressed in the Bundesliga this year but have struggled a little in the Champions League, where they have come up against teams with similar budgets. 

Todays visit of PSG was always going to offer a real test but Kompany's side have passed so far, generating chances and dominating the ball against a talented side. There have been chances on the break for the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Warren Zaire-Emery but it's been a confident performance from Bayern in the opening 45 minutes. 

If they can maintain this level for the second half they could be rewarded with a statement result.

First-ever Champions League goal for Kim Min-Jae.

The Bayern Munich defender hasn't had too much to do so far this evening but was sharp when the ball fell to him in the PSG penalty area. 

Late flurry from Bayern to end the half. Sane pounces on the ball again and shoots from 25 yards out but his effort flies well over the PSG crossbar. 

Fabian Ruiz is dispossessed on the edge of his own box and PSG pounce. 

First Leroy Sane and then Joshua Kimmich try their luck from range but both shots are rebuffed. 

Lofted ball from PSG finds Hakimi at the back post. He does well to keep the ball in play and work it back to Joao Neves, but his left-footed effort is comfortably saved by Neuer. 

We're going to have three minutes of added time at the end of the first half. 

PSG enjoying a decent spell of possession to end the first half. Can they muster one last chance before the break?

Nuno Mendes does brilliantly to skip away from Bayern defenders on the left, before eventually hitting traffic on the edge of the box. 

He manages to turn back and retain possession. 

Nearly another for Bayern! Coman races onto a long ball forward but his poked effort curls just over the crossbar.

The PSG players are arguing that there was a foul on Safonov, preventing the keeper from getting to the ball. Officials think otherwise, however, and Bayern are ahead.

Coman glides past Hakimi on the left and pulls the ball back to Kane on the edge of the box. He tries a clipped pass into the on-rushing Musiala but PSG scramble the ball clear.

Mix-up between Harry Kane and Leroy Sane on the edge of the PSG box. Sane was in acres of space on the right but the Englishman couldn't find him.

PSG work the ball forward again and find Dembele in the box. He makes some space for a shot but his effort is palmed clear by Neuer. 

Brave play from Manuel Nueur, shimmying away from Barcola on the edge of his six-yard box. 

Harry Kane is clipped by a PSG defender near the touchline. 

The Englishman goes down holding his ankle but he's quickly to his feet again. 

Laimar is starting to get forward for Bayern on the right flank, pushing Nuno Mendes back. 

Good spell of possession on the edge of the PSG box but an overly ambitious pass from Kimmich sees the move break down. 

The visitors have been diligent in their defensive work so far. 

It's been a fast-paced game so far, both teams trying to take advantage of every opportunity on the turnover. 

Bayern push for an opener.

Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov has supplanted Gianluigi Donnarumma in the PSG starting XI and he's been good value for his place so far. Two sharp stops to deny the hosts. 

A promising Bayern counter-attack is halted after the ball strikes the referee on the way through to Jamal Musiala. The Bayern players aren't happy but there wasn't much that the official could do there.

Sharp break from Bayern Munich is halted by a uncharacteristically poor touch from Harry Kane on the edge of the PSG box. 

Kingsley Coman gets into a foot race with Achraf Hakimi on the wing. The PSG defender does well to shield the ball out and even wins a free kick for his team.

PSG starting to grow in confidence now, enjoying a little more of the ball than they did in the opening ten minutes. 

Bayern are finding space down the flanks but PSG's four-man midfield is making life difficult in central areas. 

Out of possession, it looks like Ousmane Dembele is functioning as the central striker for PSG. His pace and direct running could cause problems for Bayern's high defensive line. 

Brave play from Manuel Nueur to break the lines and get Bayern on the offensive. Davies plays a clever ball down the line to Coman, who works it across to Sane on the right. 

Sane tries to beat Safonov at the near post but the goalkeeper is equal to the effort. 

Ten minutes in, both teams will be fairly happy with how this game has started. 

Bayern have dominated the ball but PSG have kept them at bay, and even started to pose a threat on the counter-attack.

First foray forward from PSG finds Demebele racing in behind the Bayern backline. He has space for a shot but drags his effort wide of the target, via a slight deflection. PSG corner. 

PSG are struggling to get a hold of the ball in the opening stages. Bayern are denying them the space to play out from the back. 

Joshua Kimmich curls in a dangerous, dipping delivery and forces a slightly panicked punch away from Matvey Safonov. 

Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala are almost operating as a striker partnership in the opening stages, swapping positions fluidly. 

Coman does well to hassle Zaire-Emery and win Bayern a corner kick. 

Proactive start from Bayern Munich, who are looking to get the ball into Musiala's feet or out wide quickly.
