The San Diego Padres and the New York Mets meet Saturday in MLB action from Cit Field. Here’s a NY Mets vs San Diego Padres Prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the Game.

San Diego Padres Betting Preview

In their last series, the Padres took on the Oakland Athletics. San Diego did very well in that set, winning all three Games 6-1, 4-3 and 5-4 for a sweep. In the Friday opener matchup versus the Mets, the Padres had five hits in a tough 2-1 loss. Starter Matt Waldron had 7.0 innings with two earned runs on three hits and two walks.

It’ll be Adam Mazur in the starting role for the Padres on Saturday. So far this year Mazur is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA and four Ks in 9.0 innings over the first two starts of his MLB career.

New York Mets Betting Preview

Over on the Mets’ side, they played the Miami Marlins in their early-week series. New York lost the opener of that set 4-2 but came back for victories 10-4 and 3-2 in the remaining pair. On Friday the Mets got two RBI from a third-inning hit by JD Martinez. Starter Sean Manaea had 5.0 innings with four hits, one earned and one walk.

Jose Quintana will take the starter role for the Mets on Saturday. This year Quintana is 1-5 with a 5.29 ERA in 13 starts. He’s got 44 Ks in 66.1 innings. Quintana is 93-98 with a 3.80 ERA in 341 career games (315 starts).

NY Mets vs San Diego Padres Prediction

I’ll probably take a stab on the Padres. Probably also staying away, though; this one’s going to depend on the starters. Mazur is coming off a rough outing in a loss to the Diamondbacks, giving up eight earned in 3.0 innings. As for Quintana, he’s been spotty over his last pair with six earned in 7.2 total innings. This Game could get messy in a hurry if neither starter is on point.

In the Friday game the Padres had a pretty solid game overall pitching-wise. There wasn’t much going on at the plate, though. Jurickson Profar and Luis Arraez had four of the team’s five hits. San Diego has to get the bats going Saturday.
