QB Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs had to pull off upsets in 3 straight playoff games to win their 2nd straight Super Bowl last season. They kick off this season Thursday hosting QB Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens — the team Kansas City beat in the AFC Championship game. The Chiefs (+500 at BetMGM Sportsbook) and Ravens (+1000) own the 1st- and 3rd-shortest odds, respectively, to win outright this season.

Twitter/X may be suspended in Brazil, but the NFL’s South American debut will still have social media buzzing, as the Green Bay Packers take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Sau Paulo Friday. QB Jalen Hurts’ Eagles are the 3rd-favorite to win the NFC (+550), while Jordan Love’s side has the 4th-shortest odds (+750).

The Chicago Bears selected QB Caleb Williams out of USC with the 1st overall pick in the NFL Draft, and their Over/Under of 8.5 wins (Over: -165 | Under: +140) reflects the team’s heightened expectations. Chicago hosts the Tennessee Titans Sunday in a 1 p.m. ET slate which features multiple QBs making their team debuts. Russell Wilson will try to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers in an upset over Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and Sam Darnold returns to MetLife Stadium with the Minnesota Vikings to face the New York Giants.

LA Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh (the favorite to win COTY at +900) will look to get QB Justin Herbert back on the winning track as they open the season hosting the Las Vegas Raiders in the afternoon slate. If preseason results are predictive of the regular season, then the Seattle Seahawks may be in trouble when they host Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton and QB Bo Nix. Washington Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels makes his debut at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and QB Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys open as underdogs at the Cleveland Browns.

The Sunday slate wraps up with a rematch of a Wild Card Game from last season — the LA Rams at the Detroit Lions — and QB Aaron Rodgers returns from an Achilles injury as the New York Jets visit the San Francisco 49ers, who lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII, on Monday Night Football.
