Neil Lennon spotted the ‘sliding doors’ moment that inspired Celtic to become champions

There have been many moment in this title-winning season that could be pinpointed as one that was a turning point for Celtic.

Earlier we discussed how Callum McGregor recognised the 3-3 draw with Rangers at Ibrox as the moment he believed was a ‘big day’ in the title race.

I pointed to the 2-1 win against Hibs where two last-minute Adam Idah penalties rescued two points from being dropped in the capital.

But for former Celtic boss, Neil Lennon, there was a Game where his old club had to come from behind to grab three precious title points earlier this season.

Lennon: Motherwell’s Celtic ‘lift’

Funnily enough, this is another Game that Adam Idah had a massive iNFLuence in. Trailing The Steelmen at half-time, Idah came on as a second-half substitute and changed the whole course of the Game.

Lennon said [Sky Sports], “I think if you look at the first half at Ibrox, they were dominant. They haven’t played as well there for a long time.

“And I think they probably took a lot from that. And then to go back to 2-2 and then go 3-2 in front again and show a bit of character then they lose another goal to go 3-3.

“I felt the win at Motherwell when Idah scored late on. It was in a spell where they weren’t at their best, sort of scratching out results, but they ended up winning the game 3-1.

“So that was, you know, sometimes it’s a sliding doors moment in the season just gives you that bit of a lift.”

Scoring the equaliser within six minutes of his introduction, Idah would then go on and put Celtic in the lead in the 86th minute before Luis Palma wrapped up the win with an injury-time third.

But once again, this was a match that had Celtic dropped points, then the title win that was concluded last night may never happen.

As I said before, there will be varying opinions on which game was key for Celtic this season as pivotal in the title race but this win will certainly do down as one that was vital for Rodgers this season.
