Five weeks of the 2023 college Football season are in the books. It has certainly been an entertaining year so far, with plenty of upsets but also enough chalk to keep the top of the rankings loaded with traditional powerhouses.

Now it’s time to turn our attention to Week 6. The slate is a decent one, headlined by a 4 all-ranked showdowns — and that doesn’t even include Alabama at Texas A&M. The opening lines were released at most Sportsbooks on Sunday, so let’s take a look at these openers and give our first impressions.

We’ll have college football picks and predictions for EVERY game this season!

Kentucky +16 (-110) vs Georgia

It may be time to start fading Georgia before the oddsmakers adjust to the fact the 2-time defending national champion looks considerably different this year – at least for the time being. That’s not to say that the Bulldogs are going to lose this one outright, but I don’t see them covering 16 points against an undefeated Kentucky squad.

Notre Dame -6.5 (-110) vs Louisville

Notre Dame was one of my early best bets last week. It was a sweat against Duke, but it paid off in the end. I don’t think it will be as tense this weekend, as Louisville is an inferior opponent compared to Duke and the atmosphere won’t be as rowdy (College Gameday was in Durham, for example). I’ll ride with Sam Hartman to get the job done.

Texas Tech +1 (-110) over Baylor

This is not a particularly intriguing Big 12 matchup like it would have been in past years, but it does present a nice betting opportunity. Baylor is horrible. It lost to Texas State and its only wins have come over Long Island University and UCF (by 1 point). The Red Raiders aren’t great, but they can beat one of the worst teams in the conference. I wouldn’t bother with the 1 point; just take Texas Tech on the money line.
