The Atlanta Braves will host the Washington Nationals for Game two of their divisional series this Saturday from Truist Park. Atlanta stole Game one after rallying late, 3-2.

Nationals Betting Preview

Washington moved to 25-37 after falling to Atlanta. The Nationals nearly snapped a four-Game The Washington offense is scoring 3.42 runs per Game, while batting .267, with a .330 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.56 ERA, with a 1.44 WHIP. Joey Meneses plated a run in the Game one loss, and he leads the Nats in batting (.305) and RBI (31). Lane Thomas has collected a hit in eight of the last ten Games, and he leads the team in runs scored (41), with solid splits of .280/9/28.

MacKenzie Gore (3-4, 3.66 ERA, 80 Ks) will get the ball for Washington. The sophomore pitcher delivered a second straight quality start against Philly last weekend, striking out six in six innings of work, but he still took the losing nod. Gore has been pretty reliable this season for the Nats, allowing more than three runs in just two of his first twelve starts, while clearing six strikeouts in nine of those. Gore pitched well in his season debut against Atlanta at home, tossing six Ks in 5.1 innings en route to a winning decision.

Braves Betting Preview

Atlanta moved to 39-24 after defeating Washington. The Braves kept their win streak alive with late game heroics against the Nats, and they’ll aim for a seventh straight win Saturday. The Atlanta offense is scoring 3.83 runs per game, while batting .257, with a .337 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Ronald Acuna Jr. has recorded multiple hits in four of the last six games, and he’s leading Atlanta in BA (.327) and hits (83). Matt Olson has a hit in five straight contests, and he leads ATL in home runs (17) and RBI (43). Sean Murphy has plated multiple runs in two of the last three games, and he’s posting nice splits of .288/12/42.

Jared Shuster (2-2, 4.99 ERA, 51 Ks) will get the ball for Atlanta. The rookie lefty did enough to earn his second victory of the season last week in Oakland, going 5.1 innings, and holding the A’s to two runs. The Nats will surely present more of a test for Shuster, and he’ll be out to avenge a messy MLB debut in DC back in April here against Washington.

Washington vs Atlanta Trends

Washington is 23-37 against the spread this season, with a 27-32-1 O/U record. Atlanta is 25-34 ATS this year, with a 32-24-3 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Atlanta got away with one last night, and I don’t think they allow things to come down to heroics this time around. The matchup on the mound is pretty even between the two young lefties, and I think this feels like a spot to lean on the streaking home team. The Braves are playing great ball right now, and they’ve got the type of lineup that can strike in any inning. The Nationals have admirably overachieved a bit this season, but let’s naturally back the stronger team in their backyard. Take a profitable shit with Atlanta for Game two of this NL East series.
