The kitchen is no place for funny Business — at least that’s what fans have gathered from The Bear, as well as Rachel Green’s Thanksgiving trifle attempt on Friends. While the kitchen mishap from the sitcom remains memorable, we’re recalling a few real-life chaotic kitchen moments of celebrities.

From Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and Richie’s (Ebon-Moss Bacharach), high-decibel squabbles to Fak (Matty Matheson) getting confused about serving a mirepoix broth, The Bear Season 3 was filled with several moments of mayhem. Much like these scenes, some celebrities have gone viral for wreaking havoc in the kitchen and making pop culture History.

Be it in reality shows or on their social media pages, many of Hollywood’s A-list stars have shown their wild eccentricities and moments of distress through culinary escapades. Let’s take a look at some of the most chaotic kitchen moments of celebrities.

Most chaotic kitchen moments of celebrities that went viral

Kendall Jenner’s unusual cucumber-cutting skills

Every episode of The Kardashians is a goldmine for content, especially if you are looking for some drama. For model Kendall Jenner, the most viral moment from the reality show was not when she had a spat with her sisters or her relationship problems; it was her unusual way of chopping cucumbers. In a May 2022 episode of the show, Kendall was in her mother Kris Jenner’s kitchen attempting to slice a cucumber to make herself a snack. While it seemed like a trivial bit on the show, the scene broke the internet after fans observed how uncomfortable she was while chopping up the simple salad veggie.

At one point, Kendall had her arms crossed over one another, holding the knife in one hand and the end of the cucumber in the other. This peculiar style of cucumber-cutting quickly became meme content for netizens and impressively, Jenner herself too saw humour in it. Continuing the joke, she even dressed up as a cucumber for Halloween. Funnily, a cucumber wouldn’t be a bad Halloween costume for Carmy aka The Bear either, as he certainly needs its cool and calm energy!

Taylor Swift in her Fearless kitchen era

Time and again, Taylor Swift has proven that she’s adept at every life skill and a recent example of her saving the day by extinguishing a kitchen fire is further proof. It was an unexpectedly shocking scene as Taylor and Gracie Abrams’ post-midnight songwriting session turned into a consequential life lesson after a small fire erupted in Swift’s kitchen.

While there’s no confirmation of whether the two pop divas indulged in a cooking experiment, fans saw the Anti-Hero singer turning on her Fearless mode as she tackled the fire with a fire extinguisher. While at first confused about the required technique, Taylor impressively doused the flames while Abrams doled out wisdom about how to get rid of kitchen fires in the background. Evidently, it was just another day in the life of Taylor Swift, who has had her fair share of turning chaotic instances into winning moments.

Selena Gomez and Gordon Ramsay’s viral steak lesson

Not far from her close friend Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez has also had her own set of chaotic moments in the kitchen.

For Gomez, the lesson came from Gordon Ramsay, who famously refrains from mincing his words, and can deem anyone an “idiot sandwich.” Much like the contestants on his reality shows, Ramsay didn’t hold back when he schooled Selena Gomez during an episode of her show Selena + Chef. As the two got together to make a rib-eye steak, it did not take long before the world-renowned chef lost his cool as Gomez attempted to put the steak in the wrong pan.

At another point, a frazzled Gomez was unable to understand Ramsay’s instructions while he continuously yelled “Next one in.” It was not until after several demands from the chef that she finally understood her task was to put a second ribeye in the pan. While Ramsay ended up slipping into his default yelling mode, it was all in good jest as he gave Gomez an unforgettable culinary lesson.

Paris Hilton and Demi Lovato’s ‘ravioli from scratch’

While Paris Hilton successfully gave “sliving” (slang slaying and living your best life) lessons on her Netflix show Cooking With Paris, the same cannot be said about her kitchen skills. In the show, Hilton headed out to a grocery shop in designer wear, later inviting her Celebrity friends over for a chat about a fancy cook. Among the host of stars who were invited on the show, Demi Lovato also made an appearance, with one memorable episode seeing the two attempting to make ravioli from scratch.

Much like the iconic scene from the comedy series Schitt’s Creek where Moira (Catherine O’Hara) and David (Dan Levy) try to figure out what “fold in the cheese” means, Hilton and Lovato found themselves in a mess with the pasta flour. From trying to blend unbeaten eggs into the flour to making a sticky mess out of the dough, the ravioli-making session was a cautionary tale at best, warning culinary enthusiasts against neglecting the recipe.

Much like Carmy’s “refire” instructions in The Bear, this ravioli attempt would have called for a rePetitive loop of “again” to get the dough right. For pure Entertainment value though, this episode of Cooking With Paris certainly ranks near the top of the most chaotic kitchen moments of celebrities.

Derry Girls cast on The Great British Bakeoff

Another show that put celebrities and their culinary skills on the spot was The Great British Bakeoff, which made for fantastic television when it hosted the cast of Derry Girls. All the cast members including Nicola Coughlan, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Dylan Llewellyn, and Siobhán McSweeney, went through a rollercoaster of emotions as they took on the baking challenges.

From McSweeney’s trifle turning out to be the texture of “slime” to Coughlan accidentally grilling her sponge cake, the episode was filled with not one but several chaotic moments. In the post-bake-off haze and following the final challenge, the Bridgerton star joked, “I am a broken woman”, something that may resonate with Chef Sydney from The Bear after the events of season 3.

Reese Witherspoon’s Snowcream craze

While Reese Witherspoon‘s wintry dessert creation did not have reality show origins, it nonetheless went viral on TikTok — for all the wrong reasons. In a video, the actress shared a recipe for a snow-inspired creation she called a “snow salt Chococcino”. After scooping snow into coffee mugs, the recipe included adding toppings such as salted caramel and chocolate syrups, along with a coffee cold brew. While The Morning Show star seemed to enjoy it while grabbing a spoonful, netizens weren’t thrilled about the snow-dessert.

Many questioned the use of snow, claiming it would be unhygienic. Responding to comments saying that eating snow could make one sick, Witherspoon defended her recipe and said, “So what you’re saying to me is I have to filter the snow before I eat it? I just can’t. I can’t filter snow, I don’t know how to do that.” The unusual dish left the internet divided as it entered the zeitgeist of TikTok trends.

Jennifer Garner’s Christmas mishap

Like Witherspoon, another Hollywood star to share their love for food on social media is Jennifer Garner. The actress’ Pretend Cooking Show on Instagram, which entails relatable cooking videos, is a fan-favourite. Among Garner’s most viral posts showcasing her kitchen escapades was when she “almost lit the kitchen on fire” while making Ina Garten’s beef bourguignon recipe.

It all started when Garner got the ratio of ingredients wrong, and mistakenly added double the amount of Cognac to the dish. This led to her pot erupting into a ball of fire, with the flames nearly hitting the ceiling of her kitchen. Following initial shock, the actress joked about the mishap and said, “Can you believe that just happened?” That was wild!” It certainly turned out to be a memorable Christmas cookout for the star and her fans, who appreciated how real she was about the entire incident.
