With plenty of MLB Games taking place each day, one of the quickest bets you can make is if a run will be scored in the first inning. There is value to be had and this market has become very popular over time. If you don’t like sweating out your bets for 3 hours, this one will take only about 15 minutes. I’m on a 20-5 run with my YRFI/NRFI plays, so let’s keep this momentum going! But before we dive in, don’t forget to check out our MLB picks for every Game today.

Washington Nationals vs New York Mets: NRFI (+100)

For my first pick on Thursday’s slate, I’m taking the NRFI in this NL East clash between the Washington Nationals and New York Mets. These are a pair of pitchers that have had their ups and downs this season, but I’m anticipating strong outings from starters on Thursday. Kodai Senga has been much better at home than on the road, so a similarly strong effort should be expected from the right-hander, especially since he’s surrendered just 18 ER over his last 10 starts. Senga will be opposed by Josiah Gray, who I repeatedly looked to fade repeatedly in 2022, but has turned it around this season. The young right-hander is coming off one of his best starts of the campaign and now will get to take on a meek Mets offense. Let’s back a quick first inning at plus money.

Cleveland Guardians vs Chicago White Sox: NRFI (-120)

For my second pick on Thursday’s card, I’m going with the NRFI in an AL showdown between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox. Both of these offenses don’t inspire much confidence at all, and I don’t see a scoring outburst coming in this one against either starting pitcher. For the hosts, Dylan Cease has been up-and-down this season but the right-hander has been on the upswing of late. Cease has surrendered just 2 runs on 6 hits over his last 11 innings pitched, as part of a run where he’s allowed just 20 ER over his last 10 outings. The Guardians are 25th and 27th in SLG and OPS respectively, so I don’t expect early scoring from them here. On the other side, Tanner Bibee has allowed just 4 runs over his last 5 outings as part of a dominant month of July. Chicago’s offense has been dormant all season, so let’s back both pitchers to toss a scoreless opening frame.
