“The only way this works is if the Jaguars decide they are moving on from Doug Pederson and are gonna strip everything down,” he said. “They may want to start over at quarterback. The guys running the [New York] Giants need to consider that as an option. Figure out the package it’s going to take and trade for Trevor Lawrence.”

“He’s only 25 years old. He has the talent…he hasn’t had consistency in his coaching staff,” Barber continued. “If you’re worried about the turnovers, what was Brian Daboll’s greatest accomplishment with Daniel Jones?

“It gives them a chance to find success quicker. They need success. They can’t keep throwing losing records on their resume.”

Reaction to Barber’s proposal were mixed, though.

New York Jets May Trade For Trevor Lawrence

With Aaron Rodgers’ time as a member of the New York Jets concluding after this year, Lawrence has emerged as a possibility for the New York Jets as well.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic said as much this week.

“Replacing Rodgers won’t be easy. The free-agent QB market is lacking, with Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson among the top names — though Wilson is expected to stay with the [Pittsburgh] Steelers and the [Minnesota] Vikings could decide to keep Darnold if he’s willing to be a backup,” Russini wrote. “The Jets could explore trading for Trevor Lawrence or drafting a quarterback, though the 2025 draft class appears weak.”

One way or another, there will be no shortage of interest when it comes to Lawrence following this season.
