Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 over Milwaukee Brewers (+145)

The Brewers became the first team to clinch a division title when the Chicago Cubs lost on Wednesday afternoon, ending the NL Central competition. Milwaukee was able to celebrate after it walked off the Phillies in the 10th inning later in the day. Although the Brewers still have something to play for given their faint hopes of earning a bye, they could be hungover (perhaps literally!) on Thursday. A hungry Arizona squad that is still battling for a Wild Card spot will be eager to take advantage. Corbin Carroll has hit safely in 7 of his last 8 games (the only exception is when he got only 2 at-bats in a contest last week) — 3 of which have been of the multi-hit variety. Give me Carroll and company to prevail by multiple runs.

New York Mets -1.5 over Philadelphia Phillies (+154)

The Mets are clinging to the third and final Wild Card spot in the National League, while the Phillies have all but wrapped up the NL East crown and are well on their way to a bye in the postseason. In other words, New York is the more motivated team – and it is playing like it. The Mets are on a 3-game winning streak, improving their record to 15-4 in their last 19 contests. Luis Severino will toe the rubber for them on Thursday after most recently facing none other than Philadelphia this past Saturday. The veteran right-hander delivered a quality start, marking his third in a row (previously allowed a combined 2 runs in 13.1 innings against the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds). Philly is countering with Taijuan Walker, who is 3-6 with a 6.29 ERA. In his last 4 appearances, Walker has struck out a mere 2 batters in 14.0 innings. Count on Severino getting more than enough run support in this one.

Chicago Cubs -1.5 over Washington Nationals (+126)

It’s a Patrick Corbin day for the Nationals, which pretty much makes them an automatic fade. Corbin is coming down the stretch of another disastrous year, saddled with a 6-13 record, 5.45 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. As if it even matters who is going for Chicago, it turns out to be one of the team’s best pitchers. Javier Assad is taking the mound as he looks to continue what has been a stellar season (7-5, 3.27 ERA). Assad has worked at least 5.2 innings in 5 consecutive starts and only once during this stretch MMArErrorV2Themed SCXW9988561 BCX0">has he allowed more than 3 runs. The right-hander just faced Washington on August 31 and delivered a quality start while leading the Cubs to a 5-3 victory. This is simply a pitching mismatch, plus the Cubs – even though they are nothing special – are a much better club overall.
