James Forrest Backs Celtic Teammate to Fulfil Ultimate Career Dream
Celtic winger James Forrest backs his teaMMAte Nicolas Kuhn to fulfil his lifelong ambition of playing for the German national team.
Speculation surrounding a potential call-up for the 24-year-old was sent into overdrive in the recent international break when Julian Nagelsmann said he was being monitored.
Such a revelation doesn’t come as much of a surprise, especially given Kuhn’s form so far this season; the attacker has been on fire, scoring 11 goals and assisting as many in 18 appearances across all comPetitions.
He has come into the 2024/25 campaign like a man on a one-way mission and, particularly given how bipolar he was during his first few months after signing for Celtic, Kuhn’s form has taken his manager, teaMMAtes, and supporters somewhat by surprise.
He is performing at Champions League level, though, and would more than deserve a call-up to play for his country.
Kuhn’s fellow winger, Forrest, was recently asked about international recognition for the German: “If you ask anybody in the changing room, they’d be delighted if that happens, I think everyone would be if he got that call-up,” he said (The Celtic Way).
“He’ll probably say he just needs to keep doing what he’s doing until March. He won’t be far away.”
Kuhn playing for a national team the standing of Germany would be colossal not just for himself but for Celtic. It would be fully warranted, too, especially given his form this campaign.
Indeed, Forrest is continually blown away by the ex-Bayern, RB Leipzig, and Ajax academy player.
He said: “Fair play to him. Obviously, it was difficult when he came in in January. I know what it’s like as a forward player at this club. You’re expected to get goals and assists, you’re expected to play well, every week.
“It’s a real credit to him, the way he’s come back since pre-season. He’s been at it from pre-season every Game. His numbers are unbelievable. All the boys are buzzing for him and you can see the confidence in him as well.”
