Liverpool's Mohamed Salah hints that this could be his last season at Anfield after no contract talks

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has hinted that this season could be his last with the Reds. The Egyptian scored in the 3-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday as the 32-year-old touched on his contract situation with his current deal expiring next summer. 

The Egyptian striker spoke to Sky Sports after Liverpool's win at Old Trafford and said, "As you know it's my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it and don't want to think about it. Nobody in the club has talked to me yet about contracts, so okay, I'll play my last season and we'll see at the end of the season. It's not up to me."

The striker moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2017 from AS Roma and immediately became a key player of the English side, where he scored 214 goals in 352 Games across all comPetitions up to now. In this start of the season, Salah has scored three goals and provided three assists in the first three Premier League matches under the new coach Arne Slot, who replaced German manager Jurgen Klopp at the club this summer. 

Salah's contract was also a hot topic in the summer of 2022, when his future was still unknown and multiple reports suggested a possible exit. However, on July 1st of that same summer, Liverpool surprised the world and announced a new three-year deal valid until the summer of 2025. Many clubs tried to sign Salah over the past years, including Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023. It was the same Liverpool who rejected a £150 million package, which included £100 million plus add-ons. 

Since then, there have been no talks over a new deal for the Liverpool star. These quotes, after the win at Manchester United, might also be a way for the player to put pressure on the club over a new deal. Only time will tell us if this was the last time Salah plays for Liverpool at Old Trafford.
