Goals from Reo Hatate, Liam Scales, Nicolas Kuhn, and Anthony Ralston ensured Brendan Rodgers’ men got off to the perfect start in the Scottish Premiership.

After praising his team, the manager touched on transfers post-match.

Fans have been frustrated at the lack of incomings this summer, but the players who have come through the door have quality.

Schmeichel is one of those, and supporters have been left impressed by his performances since joining the club.

Similarly, the veteran goalkeeper has been taken aback by the fans, cwith Flag Day proving better than he expected.

“Yeah it exceeded expectation”, he said (Celtic FC on YouTube).

“It’s been an incredible welcome. I must say it’s been overwhelming and something that makes me very proud. But also it makes me very, very motivated to keep winning for this team.”

The acquisition of the Denmark captain already looks to be a shrewd piece of Business from Celtic.

A gaping hole was left both on the pitch and off it when Joe Hart retired, but Schmeichel looks to have amply filled it.
