The Houston Astros and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Tuesday in MLB action from Rogers Centre. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Toronto Blue Jays vs Houston Astros Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Houston Astros will start Spencer Arrighetti here and Arrighetti is 4-6 with a 5.68 ERA and 75 strikeouts this season. This will be Arrighetti’s first career start against Toronto. The Toronto Blue Jays will trot out Jose Berrios here and Berrios is 7-6 with a 3.38 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. In his last 5 starts against Houston, Berrios is 3-1 with a 2.27 ERA and 20 strikeouts.

Houston Astros Recap

The Houston Astros come into this one looking to build on their series-opening 3-1 win over the Blue Jays on Monday, keeping the momentum going from their series win over the Mets this past weekend as well as series wins over the Rockies, Orioles and White Sox over the last two weeks in the midst of this hot streak.

Astros Rolling At The Dish

Jose Altuve has 103 hits and a .304 batting average with 13 home runs, 37 RBIs and 17 doubles while Kyle Tucker has a team-high 19 homers with 11 doubles and 40 RBIs. Yordan Alvarez also has 17 homers with 43 RBIs and 19 doubles while Altuve has the Astros’ team lead with 13 stolen bases so far this season. Jeremy Pena also has 87 hits and a .277 batting average as well as 10 stolen bases of his own this season.

Why the Houston Astros will win

  • The Astros have won each of their last 10 games after playing the previous day.
  • The Blue Jays have lost each of their last six games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Astros have covered the run line in each of their last 10 games after playing the previous day.
  • The Blue Jays have failed to cover the run line each of their last six games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.

Toronto Blue Jays Recap

The Toronto Blue Jays come into this one looking to bounce back from another disappointing showing in Monday’s series opener, failing to build any sort of momentum after a pair of series splits with the Yankees and Red Sox over the last week.

Blue Jays Struggling To Find Consistency

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. leads the Blue Jays with 96 hits including 17 doubles, 13 home runs and 50 RBIs along with a .297 batting average and a .375 OBP. Daulton Varsho’s chipped in 11 home runs and 35 RBIs in addition to 14 doubles. Davis Schneider has 15 doubles while George Springer has a team-high 9 stolen bases. Varsho also has a team-high 77 strikeouts and 8 stolen bases as well this season.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win

  • The Astros have lost each of their last six night games against AL East opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Blue Jays have won four of their last five home games against the Astros following a home loss.
  • The Astros have failed to cover the run line in each of their last 11 Tuesday night games against American League opponents.
  • The Blue Jays have covered the run line in each of their last eight Tuesday night games as home favorites against AL West opponents.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Houston Astros Prediction

I’m on the Astros here. The Astros are simply on fire here and while Berrios is the better and more trustworthy starting option, Arrighetti’s done a decent job of righting the ship after a rough start to his major league career. Toronto has a lot of nice pieces, but the lineup potentially missing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. after a HBP on Sunday is tough for a lineup that was having trouble producing with him in the lineup to begin with. Give me the Astros at the great price.
