Japan’s Naked Flowers Interactive Art Exhibition is Blooming in Hongkong This April

Japanese digital art collective NAKED is bringing its famed Naked Flowers to Hong Kong. Starting from April 27, you can experience the multisensory art exhibition in 1881 Heritage, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Led by Japanese artist Ryotaro Muramatsu, the exhibition brings participants on a journey through eight different participatory arts rooms, revolving around “learning the secrets of flowers.” Here, visitors can interact with the digital artworks by sight, touch, and movement to unlock the story behind the flowers.

The Naked Flowers experience begins with the “Naked Big Book,” another popular piece created by the digital art collective. Following the scattered Petals in “The Flower Path” takes you through the “Big Flower Garden,” where larger-than-life flowers entice you to come closer and enjoy its gentle fragrance. Inside the “Digital Flower Garden,” three experiences divide the space where you can grow your own flowers, play with them as a butterfly, and watch them bloom and light up the night with their glow.

Learn about the meaning behind each flower in the “Mosaic Flower Garden” then explore the Mysterious world of cells inside the kaleidoscope-like space of “Microscopy of Flowers.” The “Ousai Garden” invites everyone to witness the life cycle of a flower, from the moment its seed is planted until it blooms. Finally, the Naked Flowers exhibition ends with “Dandelion,” Muramatsu’s long-term project of planting (or installing) the flower, which symbolises peace, around the world.

After your floral journey, don’t forget to stop by the Naked Café Bar for a refreshing drink. Of course, the round tables there are interactive too — placing your drink on it will cause flowers to bloom across the surface.

The Naked Flowers exhibition will run from April 27 to October 27, 2024. Early bird tickets are available from now until April 26, with tickets priced at HK$150 for adults and HK$120 for children, students, seniors, and disabled guests. Afterwards, adult tickets will cost HK$180 and concessionary tickets cost HK$150.
