Don’t expect the highest caliber of football when the New Orleans Saints take on the Tennessee Titans at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the Caesars Superdome for their preseason finale. The Saints are anticipated to give many key players, including quarterback Derek Carr, some rest. In Carr’s place, Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler are set to each play a half, allowing fans to see the depth of talent on the team.

During the first two preseason games, Carr took the field for New Orleans, completing nine of 15 pass attempts for 59 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Carr’s position is secure as the undisputed No. 1 quarterback for the Saints entering the season.

The upcoming final preseason Game will allow the team to evaluate Haener and Rattler, who are anticipated to each play two quarters on Sunday. Haener and Rattler are currently in close comPetition for the backup quarterback role at the start of the season, and their performances against the Titans will likely determine the outcome of this battle.

Even though the Saints aren’t playing their starters, the game should still be highly competitive. Nearly everyone who plays tomorrow will have a non-guaranteed spot on the 53-man roster, and players will fight tooth and nail to keep their dreams alive.

Those who don’t make it past Tuesday’s cut deadline at 3 p.m. CT will be eligible to be claimed off waivers or reverted back to their team’s practice squad, which should make things interesting going into the Game.
