Instagram has expanded its post boosting options, offering users more opportunities to enhance the visibility of their top-performing organic content. The platform’s “Boost” feature allows for a streamlined, simplified ad setup process, enabling users to capitalise on posts that are resonating with their audience.

Previously, some posts were ineligible for boosting due to limitations within Meta’s system and concerns surrounding copyright. However, a recent update means a wider range of posts are now eligible for boosting directly from the app.

As Instagram explains:

“Ever tried to boost content with GIFs, stickers, or copyrighted music and faced an error? Give it another go. Instagram’s latest update to boosting now means that most GIFs and stickers are now eligible to be boosted.”

It is important to note that this applies to “most” posts, rather than “all”, and Instagram has not clarified which specific posts will qualify. For users who have faced issues with boosting high-performing posts in the past, this update may be an opportunity to revisit those posts and optimise their promotional efforts.

For future posts, including GIFs and stickers will not prevent boosting. However, users must have a Professional Account to take advantage of the feature, and music restrictions will still apply. If a song is not eligible for boosting, users will be given the option to switch to a song that meets the criteria.

Additionally, those subscribed to Meta’s ad-free service in Europe will be unable to boost posts, a restriction that appears to be a glitch in the system.

Though small, this update is significant for users aiming to maximise their Instagram performance by amplifying their best content and reaching a larger audience. Instagram has confirmed that these changes to post boosting are now live in the app.
