Hierarchy and Other K-dramas to Watch in June 2024
After the successful run enjoyed by K-dramas like Lovely Runner and The Atypical Family inching closer to their finale, we bet you are looking forward to all the new K-content releasing in June. The month seems bright for K-drama lovers as some of the best titles are set to release soon. A star-studded political drama, a long-awaited crime sequel and a return to the school-centric teen thrillers, check out the K-dramas releasing in June 2024.
Leading the list is Netflix’s teen thriller drama Hierarchy. Penned by About Time fame Chu Hye-mi, the show will focus on the dark secrets kept hidden within the walls of an elite high school in South Korea. A Bae Hyeon-jin directorial, who is known for hits like Alchemy of Souls and Big Mouth, Hierarchy remains one of the most anticipated K-dramas releasing in June 2024.
Talking to Netflix about how the team of Hierarchy worked on building the world of the elite Jooshin High School, director Bae Hyeon-jin said, “Jooshin High School takes pride in its established order, which has never been challenged. We meticulously worked on the details of each space, like the designs, textures, and lighting. We also used structural elements to serve as metaphors about the characters’ circumstances, from the old building, which embodies the school’s pride and traditions, to the staircases, which represent the hierarchy at Jooshin.”
Meanwhile, keeping up with the appeal of political dramas is the Kim Yong-wan directorial The Whirlwind. One of the best K-dramas releasing in June 2024, this Netflix Original series will see a fierce political rivalry between Kill Boksoon actor Sol Kyung-gu and The World of the Married star Kim Hee-ae.
Not to mention OCN’s hit 2018 series The Player, which is all set to return with its long-due sequel The Player 2: Master of Swindlers. Starring veteran actors Song Seung-heon and Lee Si Eon in leading roles, The Player 2: Master of Swindler makes for one of the best K-dramas releasing in June 2024.
