As well as adding quality to the Celtic squad, Brendan Rodgers also needs to address some contract situations at the club.

This season, Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo will return to their parent clubs as their loan deals come to an end. Whether Celtic are looking to bring either of them to the club on a permanent basis remains to be seen.

With Rodgers tieing up the majority of his first-team stars to new deals in the summer, there are still others within the squad whose contracts end at the end of next season.

Five players can walk away for free next year. Adam Montgomery, James Forrest, James McCarthy, Liam Scales and Greg Taylor are all entering into their final year with the club.

Whilst many will agree that McCarthy must be moved on, the other four could still have a future at the club.

Greg Taylor not worried about Celtic contract situation

Greg Taylor has been a very good signing for Celtic since making the £3m switch from Kilmarnock in 2019.

So with his current nearing it’s end, are Celtic looking to extend it? Or does Taylor even want to agree a new deal? Here, the 26-year-old

Taylor said [Daily Record], “I have one year left but there has been no talks. I have just been focused on finishing the season strongly.

“We will see what comes of it. I just want to do as well as I can for Celtic.

“There will always be comPetition and that is the focus of being a Celtic player.

“I just want to take care of these next six Games and then everything else will take care of itself.”

Struggling in his first couple of seasons, it was under Ange Postecoglou where he really made his mark. The Scotland fullback was an everpresent under the Australian and despite his obvious flaws, Brendan Rodgers still trusts the defender to do a job for him.

With six Games to go, Celtic must remain focused and not allow contract talk to distract from the job at hand.

And as Taylor says, whatever happens with his deal will happen. The end of the season is the time to deal with contract talk.
